+ 1280x960 / 1280 x 1024 / 1400x1050
+ 1280x800 / 1440x900 / 1680x1050
+ Includes sizes for iPhone, Palm Pre, BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Bold, and Voyager.

This is a wallpaper I made quite a while ago. Just going for a typical dreamy concept with a planet actually among clouds. I never uploaded it before because it was too small to accommodate all the resolutions I usually include. I figured if I made enough mobile sizes that it would compensate and allow for enough variety.

Awww...I know your rules stricktly say that you can't reuse this work for anything, but I would really love to use this for the top of a website design. Is there anyway I can get permission to do that?

Is the website currently up and running?
heyPierce Featured By Owner Aug 16, 2009  Hobbyist General Artist
No, not yet. I could do some mock-ups for you if you like. If you don't approve of the mock-ups, I won't use it. If you approve of it though, how would you like me to give credit to you?

I'd def want it to be some sort of 50/50 thing, so credit in a manner that's not super inconspicuous would be appropriate. I'd also like to know what type of site it is just so I can get a feel for the content and the intentions of the site itself. For understandable reasons I wouldn't want my stuff associated with things with which I don't agree (like adult material, religion, political view, personal portfolios where everything should original anyway, hate messages, etc).

Haha, right on. I totally understand. The site is actually my online portfolio that I am constructing. I want to use your moon wallpaper as the banner along the top of the site. I can make a small note on the bottom of the main page that says wallpaper designed by TheAl with a link to your webpage or the deviant for the image itself. Whatever you like.

I'll try to get a mock up going, so you have a better idea of what I'm talking about. Sound good?

I'm ok with it, but only in the sense that it's flattering that you feel my work is good enough to be used as such. However, I would rather encourage you to avoid using it at least for the sake of your portfolio's integrity.

Stock photos and things you make using tutorials are the most you should probably ever stray from using completely original material for your portfolio. A portfolio is like a digital analog of you. It showcases not only what you've made, but also an overall image of what you're capable of and what you can provide. Just using a completed work made by someone else as a banner or background image, something still relatively prominent, is somewhat mis-representative. When people look at that stuff they should think, "Whoa, s/he made that? I like it! I want him/her to make me something just like it."

So I strongly encourage you to go the route of making something yourself. As aforementioned, at the least use stock photos distributed as such and/or use tutorials with your own personal twist. Check out Resurgere's Stock Gallery for some awesome, free planet stock art. And you can find some cool cloud stuff here or on SXC. I am very confident you can make something just as good or better; at the very least it'll be unique.

Ok, here is the mock-up. Tell me what you think and if you're cool with me using it. [link]

Well, as nice as it looks, I guess I'm going to stand by my earlier "no." The lengthy (sorry) reply just above your last one details my reason, which are more for the sake of your portfolio than my personal rules. So, if you could, go back and read it so you know how I feel. And checkout the links so you can get the awesome resources! :handshake:

this is really nice, but none of your sizes fit my devices!!

please could you do a 1920x1200 and a 480x640 for my computer and mobile?

very slick work!!

I try to do as many resolutions for my large packs as possible. Sometimes, though, I can't because of the limitations of the stock photos used. In this case, the 1680x1050 was as big as I could go before quality started to dip just a little too much. I could do a enlargement to 1920x1200, but quality would be lost.

As for the mobile size, that's no problem. I am curious, though, what kinda phone do you have? I may start including it from now on if it's a popular enough model. ;)
